Port Of San Diego Parks

Bounce House & Jumper Rentals at Port of San Diego Parks

Planning a birthday party, family gathering, school event, company picnic, or special celebration along the San Diego Bay waterfront? Brian’s San Diego Jumpers provides bounce house, inflatable, table, chair, canopy, and party rentals for approved events at Port of San Diego parks throughout San Diego County.

The Port of San Diego manages waterfront parks in San Diego, Chula Vista, National City, Coronado, and Imperial Beach. If you plan to have a bounce house, jumper, inflatable attraction, or other rental equipment at a Port park, a park permit may be required before your event.

Below you’ll find helpful information about Port of San Diego parks, inflatable requirements, permits, insurance, and planning your party. Because park rules and availability can change, we always recommend confirming your event and equipment directly with the Port of San Diego Parks & Recreation Department before reserving your rentals.

Do You Need a Permit for a Bounce House at a Port of San Diego Park?

Yes. The Port of San Diego requires a permit when an event includes a jump house or other inflatable. A permit is also required for gatherings of more than 25 people, alcohol consumption, and events using hired companies that provide services such as equipment rentals, catering, games, or entertainment.

Permit applications should be submitted to the Port of San Diego at least 30 days before the event. The Port currently charges a non-refundable application processing fee, with additional permit fees depending on the size and type of event.

If your event includes a jump house, insurance documentation is also required. Businesses providing services onsite must provide the required Certificate of Insurance and meet the Port’s insurance requirements.

Port of San Diego Bounce House Rental FAQs

Can I set up a bounce house anywhere in a Port of San Diego park?

No. Having a Port of San Diego park permit does not automatically mean a bounce house can be placed anywhere in the park. The location and setup must follow Port requirements, and event boundaries cannot block walkways, driveways, parking areas, or include playgrounds. Before your event, we recommend confirming your approved setup area with the Port and making sure there is enough flat, accessible space for the inflatable you plan to rent.

Do I need a permit for a bounce house or jumper at a Port of San Diego park?

Yes. The Port of San Diego requires a park permit if your event will include a jump house or other inflatable. A permit may also be required for gatherings of more than 25 people, events with alcohol, or events where a company is hired to provide equipment, entertainment, catering, games, or other services.

How far in advance should I apply for a Port of San Diego park permit?

The Port of San Diego requires park permit requests to be submitted at least 30 days before your event. We recommend starting the process as early as possible, especially for weekends and popular dates.

Can I rent a bounce house from Brian’s San Diego Jumpers for a Port of San Diego park?

Yes, for approved events and locations. Before reserving your inflatable, we recommend confirming your park, date, and equipment with the Port of San Diego. Once your event is approved, our team can help coordinate your bounce house or jumper rental and provide applicable rental information for your event.

Is insurance required for a bounce house at a Port of San Diego park?

Yes. The Port states that if you plan to have a jump house at your event, a Certificate of Insurance is required. Businesses providing services onsite are also required to provide a Certificate of Insurance meeting the Port’s requirements.

Does Brian’s San Diego Jumpers provide insurance documentation for Port park rentals?

Yes, a certificate is files with the Port Of San Diego naming the Port as required.

Can Brian’s San Diego Jumpers help with my Port of San Diego park rental?

Yes. Once you have selected your park and confirmed that your event and rental equipment can be permitted, contact us with your event date, park, rental time, and equipment you are interested in. We can help you choose appropriate bounce houses, jumpers, tables, chairs, canopies, generators, and other party rental equipment for your celebration.

Can I have a canopy or tent at a Port of San Diego park?

Tents and canopies may be allowed as part of an approved event, but the Port does not allow stakes of any kind in its parks. Tents and canopies must be properly secured using weights. Always include your planned rental equipment on your permit application and confirm the requirements with the Port before your event.

Can I reserve a specific area of a Port of San Diego park?

A Port park permit does not necessarily reserve a specific area of the park. According to the Port, park areas are generally available on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. Your permitted event boundaries also cannot block walkways, driveways, or parking areas, and playgrounds cannot be included within the event boundaries.

Can I have a jumper at a Port of San Diego park on a holiday weekend?

The Port of San Diego states that park permits are not issued on Port-observed holidays or holiday weekends. The parks remain available for general public use during those periods.

Does every Port of San Diego park allow permitted parties and bounce houses?

No. The Port manages 23 public parks but currently issues permits for only 14 of them. Some other parks are either unavailable for permitted events or are permitted by another agency. Always verify the specific park before reserving your party equipment.

How much is a Port of San Diego park permit?

The Port currently charges a non-refundable $35 permit application processing fee. This is separate from the actual permit fee. Additional fees vary depending on the size, location, and type of event, and a security deposit may also be required for certain events.

What information do I need to apply for a Port park permit?

Be prepared to provide your contact information, first and second choice of park, event date and times, expected attendance, organization information if applicable, and details about your event. Be sure to disclose that you plan to have a bounce house, inflatable, canopy, tables, chairs, entertainment, or other rental equipment.

Where do I apply for a Port of San Diego park permit?

Park permit applications are submitted through the Port of San Diego’s online Service Portal. For questions about parks and permits, contact Port of San Diego Parks & Recreation at 619-725-6001 or pa*********@************go.org.
